ANDALUSSIYAT FESTIVAL: AL ALA, FLAMENCO, AND FADO MIX IN RABAT

The Arab-Andalusian music, Flamenco, and Fado were featured on Friday evening at the Mohammed V Theater in Rabat, to celebrate the 20th edition of the Andalussiyat Festival.

Organized under the High Patronage of King Mohammed VI, this musical event, initiated by the Association of Andalusian Music Enthusiasts (AAMAM), under the auspices of the Ministry of Youth, Culture, and Communication, is part of the joint celebration of the World Cup hosted by Morocco, Spain, and Portugal.

Titled “The Two Shores,” the concert allowed music lovers to embark on a journey through rhythm and sound, with performances by the Rawafid Ensemble, conducted by Master Omar Metioui, the Spanish Flamenco troupe led by Gema Caballero, and the Portuguese Fado troupe led by Vanessa Alves.

In a statement to Infomédiaire, Aziz Alami, a member of the AMMAM Board, spoke about the highlights of the 20th edition of the Andalussiyat Festival, explaining that it was a perfect opportunity to “showcase the latest achievement of the Association,” namely the universal anthology of Al Ala.

Held under the theme “Music and Sport, Two Vectors for Development and Coexistence,” the 20th edition of the Andalussiyat Festival is taking place from December 7 to 9 in Casablanca, Rabat, and El Jadida, with the aim of highlighting the cross-border nature of Andalusian music and Morocco’s deep attachment to its intangible cultural heritage, of which Andalusian music is a major component.

It is worth noting that Dislog Group has announced its support for the promotion of this ancient music by becoming one of the official sponsors of the Association of Andalusian Music Enthusiasts of Morocco (AAMAM) for the next five years.
