Dislog Group recently strengthened its presence in Europe with the acquisition of BBW/Chef Sam. This operation, which is perfectly in line with the Group's international objectives, should generate significant operational synergies, particularly in the food sector.
In an interview with our colleagues at Eco InspirationsOmar Bennis, Managing Director of Dislog Europe, gave further details of this operation, which he described as "another major step in the development of the Dislog Group in Europe", following the acquisition of Taste Distribution in 2023.
"This acquisition is a formidable growth gas pedal and a visible marker of the Group's ambition beyond the Kingdom's borders. Dislog's stated aim is to become a key player in the European distribution market, where it intends to replicate its unique 'industrial-distributor' model, the very one that has made it so successful in Morocco", he added.
Regarding the group's new objectives following this acquisition, Omar Bennis indicated that the Dislog group's ambition is to become one of the leaders in FMCG distribution in Europe. "This acquisition - together with the immediate merger of Taste Distribution and Chef Sam's activities in France - positions us among the Top 3 distributors in France. We're aiming for this podium within three years in Chef Sam's other main markets, Spain and Portugal", he asserted.
He adds that through Chef Sam & Taste Distribution, Dislog is now present in eight countries and will achieve sales of over 75 million euros in Europe by 2024, with the aim of reaching 100 million outside the UK by 2025.
"As a Moroccan manufacturer, Dislog will also benefit from the opening of this new proprietary network to distribute its own brand portfolio, thus reinforcing the Europe-Morocco synergies already initiated with the acquisition of Taste. In particular, this operation will create a unique distribution corridor on the Morocco-Spain-Portugal-France-Belgium axis", he continued.
When asked if there would be any further acquisitions in the future, Omar Bennis was blunt. "Of course there will. This operation, which is of major importance, is one of the foundations of an ambitious expansion project which will make Dislog a leading multinational group, a 'Mediterranean' leader in the field of mass retailing and FMCG", he asserted.
"With several successful M&A operations in recent years, Dislog has acquired unquestionable experience in identifying and integrating high-potential companies, thus validating its expansion strategy through external growth operations. Our teams are currently studying a number of significant deals involving European brands", he added.
Chef Sam generated sales of 35 million euros in Europe in 2023, with annual growth of 20%. Thanks to these strategic acquisitions, Dislog Group's consolidated European sales are projected at 75 million euros for 2024, divided between 40 million euros for Chef Sam and 35 million euros for Taste Distribution.
